The REAL New Year begins now...2015 planetary energies

Human Design is a super-useful system for understanding yourself and your blueprint for happiness and success.  Here's a message from Karen Curry Parker, my favorite Human Design teacher and author (Her book, Understanding Human Design makes this complex system totally understandable.)

It will also give you insight into the energies of the year. …Today is the first day of the Human Design New Year!  I'm sorry I'm late in wishing you a happy New Year.

The energy this year is all about foundation laying.  We are preparing for even bigger shifts on the planet and discovering what we need to do to move in the direction of making our dream our reality.

The last few years have been rough and focused on releasing karma and letting go of old patterns that have kept us stuck and locked into choices that have not served our highest good.  The energy now is lighter, more joyful and full of promise for the future.  

In the summer of this year, the focus will be money and how to create more abundance, especially on the material plane.  It's a great year to start a new business or radically change your relationship with money.  

The Human Design year always starts with the energy for creativity and dreaming.  That which we dream in our minds can, ultimately, become our reality.  In addition, we start this year with Mercury in retrograde in the Gate 13, the Listener, causing us to review the past and discover what we need to release in order to move forward.  

This is a dreamy energy that pushes us to evaluate what is working in our life and to focus on those areas of growth.  Dream big. Take some time to day dream and envision what you'd love to create this year.  Now is the time to nurture your dreams.

Mercury reaches 2 Scorpio and turns retrograde from October 4th (1:02 pm EDT) through October 25th (3:17 pm  EDT). This is considered Phase II as there will be new and additional information, or changed information and changed circumstances (surrounding relationships, partnerships, friendships and motives connected to these relationships) that will need to be integrated into the situations. Major adjustments occur to make the course correction to allow the new information to be integrated into the new expression and reality.

Once Mercury turns direct, on October 25th, Phase III begins. Changes abound and catapult you into a completely new direction. As revised decisions unfold (based on the new information regarding partnerships and relationships) and evolve your pathway into a new journey, situations unfold the environment and circumstances that are more in alignment with your new sense of self, purpose and passion.

Ironically, we have just entered Mercury retrograde as of the 6th...so things will slow down a bit this month. Mercury is retrograde in Pisces, which can make us dreamy and more right-brained than usual.  Hopefully you have taken advantage of the session I do for this Mercury retrograde journey!

New Moon Update October 4th

As always, I find the planetary updates from the Power Path very helpful so I am sharing the latest one below, for the New Moon on October 4th.

"....With Sun and Moon in Libra, the Venus ruler has considerable emphasis in the New Moon chart. Because Venus is in Scorpio at the moment, we find her in a more intense, powerful aspect of herself. She is wearing the raiment of the Dark Feminine; she pulls us deep to cleanse ourselves of that which needs to shrivel and slough off so new growth can fill our souls from deep within. She is rebalancing the relationship of the Feminine to the Masculine. Healing and forgiving of the past imbalance between these two energies is being called to the foreground.

Let's look at the two asteroid goddess energies that are squaring the North and South Nodes – the points that release what we have brought from the past (that we now feel we have the strength and power to release-south) and the point of growth in this lifetime (north). Both Pallas Athena and Juno are in a dynamic, stressful, crisis-causing relationship to the Nodes as points of release and growth.

Both are sub-rulers of Libra. Pallas Athena, Wisdom Goddess, is focused on justice, fairness, balance and social equality. By springing full grown clothed in shield and armor from her father Zeus's head, she entered the masculine world and directed her kundalini energy into the mental, artistic and healing realms embodying courage and strength and mastering creative visualization and manifestation.

In the face of the rising patriarchy, Juno (Hera) willingly surrendered her position as Queen of Heaven to partake of divine union and fulfillment with another –Zeus, but in the end, this union was not realized and instead his destruction of her fertility practices and infidelities bred betrayal, deep jealousy and frustration. In the last turn of the ages, much buried power struggle and negative emotional energy exists within the feminine psyche that needs to be transformed and released to create anew our capacity for committed relationship and equal partnership that these three feminine archetypes, Venus, Pallas Athena and Juno, so fervently desire.

As the strength of the Feminine reemerges, what has been compromised within each of us in our relationship to our inner masculine will be brought to the light and healed, and as our inner sacred marriage is given expression, so will it flourish in our outer world. There is no better opportunity to spend time and attention on right relationship than when Libra and Venus hold open the portal for you to the inner divine temple of love and relationship.

If we dial back from the personal, a major dance is taking place between Uranus and Pluto. They are within 1º of an exact square to each other. On November 1st just before the eclipse of the New Moon, will be their fourth exact square of seven over a period of three years – 2012-2015. We are bracketing an intense learning period and growth curve; of course, it's uncomfortable!

What they say about Pluto's influence is 'it's almost more than the organism can bear...' kind of like childbirth, I guess. Pluto likes to extract a high price for his favors, so there are opportunities for some to be called on to give of what they cling to most desperately.

But Pluto rewards with deep transformation, clarity, release and personal power. So think about how you want to engage the energy. Total resistance to change? (like our childish Congress), extreme bonks on the head? (lost jobs, great debt, desperation, self destruction, etc.) Or surrender? and the mysterious darkness of the chrysalis when absolute, liquefying chaos reigns until the reemergence of essence occurs with beauty, freedom, and delight.

If you use the influence of Uranus in Aries to take a major personal risk, to put yourself on the line by stretching your edges maximally, to go for something innovative instead of status quo, then you will be using the times wisely and be rewarded by feeling more alive, energized and fool hardy than you may have felt in decades.

In addition, Uranus in Aries is in a Thor's Hammer configuration with Venus square Mars (feminine and masculine) reiterating and reinforcing some of the themes about the yin/yang polarities we were looking at earlier through Pallas Athena, Juno and the Nodes. A Thor's Hammer wields a lot of energy, is stressful and can bring things to crisis. A huge push is awakening us to underlying issues in our gender relationships. I just have to recommend Joseph Gordon-Levitt's film that he wrote, directed and stars in called "Don Jon". He's speaking about the influence of porn on sexuality. That's a Plutonian topic, if I ever saw one, and one that could use some transformation!

Whatever challenges exist are balanced by support and outlets for all the tension being created by the release we are all called on to step up to. Pluto remains extremely supportive with a positive relationship to Saturn (and Chiron). Saturn rules the bones and hard structures of the body and Pluto is taking the opportunity to regenerate patterns that go the deepest and hold our most limiting fears. We are making huge breakthroughs everyday especially in groups who gather to do the transformative, world shifting work that Pluto, Uranus, Saturn like to do.

Full Moon on October 18 will mark the beginning of the eclipse window with a lunar eclipse followed by a New Moon solar eclipse on November 3rd. Eclipse windows (about every six months) always allow us to reboot our systems and realign our selves to the cosmos. Mercury goes retrograde in Scorpio on October 21st until it turns direct again on November 10th. Many of you will sense that energy the week before and the week after. A good reminder that just like the trees and plants, it's time to turn our energy inward here in the Northern hemisphere.

New Moon, as well as eclipses, always allows us to begin anew and reset our intentions. Intend clarity in relationships, speak your truth and listen and receive the communications of your partner, seek beauty, bring into alignment what has tipped out of balance and consciously intend to let the grace and love of Venus shine through you wherever you go...."

You probably won’t get much sleep during this one but instead of resisting it, use it and have fun. Fun is the operative word here. Many of you probably feel there has been a lack of fun lately so go have some fun and it should what is fun for you not what you think ought to be fun and isn't."

Taurus and Scorpio polarity themes will be activated in our lives with this Full Moon ~ that is our physical resources (money, possessions, security, self worth) and our psychological/sexual resource (the mysterious, unseen, essential, shadowy, and power-infused).  Through the lens of Taurus/Scorpio, we weigh and determine what has real and lasting value in our lives, feel the burden (or commitment) of what we are attached to, and engage in the human dance of death, loss, grief and rebirth.  Not lightweight topics, but we expect nothing less from two of our power signs – fixed, earth Taurus and fixed, water Scorpio.  Power signs, including Leo and Aquarius, are not indecisive about where they are headed.  They tend to know what they want and are out to get it.  Everything else is a distraction.  Maybe a little inflexible at times, but they know what they value.  Take the opportunity given at this time of year to clean up your act on the physical plane.  Clear some space of dead energies – closets, drawers, corners, garages, files, gutters – anywhere you think energy is blocked and can’t flow easily.  Give freely of the old to make way for the new energy.  We are preparing our lives for the influx of higher frequency energies coming with the end of this year and shaping the future.

It's time for another Mercury retrograde!

From July 14th to August 8, Mercury will be in retrograde...meaning its orbit will appear to go backward.
Mercury retrograde periods happen 3 to 4 times each year, and go on for approximately 3 weeks.  Since Mercury governs communications, it can affect our ability to communicate clearly, and impact things like computers, phones and other forms of communication and travel.  Things slow down so it is generally advised not to start major new undertakings, or sign important papers.

There are things that are best NOT To do, and there are also things that are optimal to do during retrograde time.  During a Mercury retrograde, we go into a kind of "heyoka" state and we tend to think differently and out of the box more. I ought to know, because I was born under a Mercury retrograde!

December's Astrology: More joy from Mercury and other planets! What you can do

Three or four times a year, the planet Mercury goes retrograde. This has certain predictable effects, communication slows down, appointments have to rescheduled and then rescheduled again. And yet, each time we go through a retrograde there are different aspects and we are all impacted a little differently because of our personal astrology.

It can be frustrating and stressful if you are not aware of the retrograde and if you fight with the energy instead of rolling with it. That's why I offer a proxy or distance repatterning to help you align your energy and mindset for Mercury retrograde.

The final Mercury retrograde in 2010 runs from 12/10 to 12/30. My last Mercury retrograde session is tomorrow, Wednesday December 8th around 9pm Mountain, and the deadline to register is 7pm Eastern on December 8th.

Re-Defining Life Priorities: Mercury in Capricorn Retrograde Phase

Mercury retrograde will start on December 10th through December 30th so put a note in your daily planners. This Mercury Retrograde will happen at 6 degrees Capricorn and Mercury will shift back into the sign of Sagittarius when all is said and done by the end of December 2010.

Quick Overview About Mercury
In Astrology, the planet Mercury represents communication and information. It also symbolizes the linear thought process, mental attitudes, way in which you learn. and the way you consciously perceive reality. Approximately every 3 months, for approximately three weeks, Mercury appears to go “backwards” in the sky. The planets do not really go backwards. The ‘retrograde phase’ for any planet can be considered an ‘introspective’ phase. For Mercury retrograde, all forms of communication, short-term travels and information may encounter delays, obstacles and or disruption. The nature of the Mercury Retrograde phase is to allow the central nervous system to shift into non-linear states of Consciousness (similar to deep relaxation and meditation) and give the nervous system a much deserved break.

Mercury in Capricorn, December 2010:
During this phase, our attention will be on goals, and long-term plans as well as how you define things while. Capricorn symbolizes responsibility, wisdom and maturity. We must be “patient” and wise when taking an idea or theory and applying it in daily life to see if it is realistic or something needs to be revised. Mercury in Capricorn potentially can help us persevere for the long stretch to attain any and all goals we set, small or large. We must also learn to be flexible and initiate new ideas when we feel guided to.

Best Way to Prepare & Suggestions:
The suggestion is: to finish up Holiday shopping in advance, writing out cards and any other preparation ahead of time. Due to Mercury being retrograde during most of December, people may encounter more mental stress and strain with delays or snags in travel. It is best to value the quiet time and appreciate the fact that the things slowing down will ultimately help you if you have the understanding. Complete things that are left undone, projects, organizing, sorting out. Triple Check all appointment details. Add extra space between appointments and while traveling. Back up your important documents, files and pictures onto an external hard drive. Leave time to meditate, relax, dream and be in the non-linear space. Try not to force the mind to produce if you don’t have to. Wait to sign important documents or make major decisions until early January 2011. Wait to purchase “brand new” electronic items if possible (renewal is fine). Clear Away Clutter: old documents, paperwork, files & sort through the last 3 months. Renew commitments. Now is the time to review your thoughts, perceptions, words and actions to see if they are in alignment (Capricorn) with your goal(s).

Linking Up with Other Planets (The term Transits represents planets in the sky traveling through the signs currently.)

Mercury and Pluto Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn happens next to transiting Pluto in Capricorn. And may be felt intensely within the mental energy body and thought processes. It is possible, some news or information may be exposed or brought to the light of day for transformation and healing. People (or you) may feel the urge to revisit someone from the past, communicate or even bring up an old issue to resolve. It is best to be open and discuss things rather than clinging to the ‘right and wrong’ of the situation.

Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn invites us to be pragmatic in our thinking and be patient as we encounter challenges or delays. We are given opportunities to sort out and clean out the ‘mental closest’ so to speak. We may decide to make deep shifts in our perception about our lives. It is possible we may hear news about people transitioning (death) or loss as well as we may be saying goodbye to people in our lives whom we have grown apart with.

With Pluto’s symbolism closely connected to the Mercury Retrograde, we get to purge our mental attitudes and off balancing thinking. Whatever within the mind keeps us paralyzed or imprisoned we can reclaim our empowerment.

Triple Dose: Mars, Mercury Retrograde and Pluto in Capricorn
Transiting Mars in Capricorn links up with Pluto and Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn. This energy is strongly building momentum and intensity from about early December through December 16th. The potential is highly transformative energy ready to kick-start or kick ass and put something into motion.

It is possible someone or something comes back our lives with a different approach and we are presented with an intense encounter or news of some kind. Old issues that had gone “underground or been buried” may erupt, for confronting and healing now. Remember the key is; “what choice, words and actions will empower all involved?” It is best to be very patient and not take things too personally now. It’s also possible there may be miscommunications, agitations and possible combative encounters. Remind yourself that you can choose what role to play, one that is empowered and Soul-level (wisdom) or one that is ego/mind level fear based.

Mars/Pluto in Capricorn with a team like focus, stimulates deep desires on a physical level are possible, a desire to merge intimately or connect with another/loved one high. It may be helpful to channel the energy into physical outlets or organizing.

Possible Off-Balance Energy:
Mars/Pluto combination can be highly charged up in a good way or it can be volatile, eruptive and explosive. This combination is not to be taken lightly. Watch for manipulation, power struggles and control tactics generated from a place of fear and anxiety. If you allow these potent energies to build up without regular outlets there can be explosive outbursts, screaming matches, ego-power struggles, rage exploding as well as words (Mercury) being used as daggers. It is best to channel this energy into physical constructive outlets or projects.
